The Commodore 64 --commonly referred to as the C64 and has also been affectionately nicknamed the "breadbox" and "bullnose" due to its shape.-- is an 8-bit home computer released by Commodore International in 1982 the C64 features 64 kilobytes (64×210 bytes) of RAM.  Approximately 10,000 commercial software titles were made for the Commodore 64 including development tools, office applications, and games. The machine is also credited with popularizing the computer demo scene.

The Amiga was the greatest success as a games machine due to its graphic and sound subsystems in the eighties and early 1990s and generally had much better sound and graphics, and it was also a more powerful machine than its nearest rivals  The Amiga was a primary target for productivity and game development and software was often developed for the Amiga and the Atari ST simultaneously, since the ST shared a similar architecture.
