Since the advent of mail service, Topical., Thematic stamps relating to Glass and Stained Glass have been issued and/or related images have been depicted on the postage stamps of almost every nation during different times of their postal development.  The related stamps category was created  as a response to stamp collectors who want to specialize in this field in their collections in particular.

Glass in the common sense refers to a hard, brittle, transparent, solid, such as that used for windows, many bottles, or eyewear, including,  soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass and acrylic glass.. The term stained glass refers either to the material of coloured glass or to the art and craft of working with it. Throughout its history the term was applied almost exclusively to the windows of churches, cathedrals and other significant building but today usage has often extended the term "stained glass" to include domestic leadlight and objets d'art created from lead came and copper foil glasswork .
