The kina -- introduced in 1975 -- is the currency of Papua New
Guinea. It is divided in 100 toea. The name comes from the kina shell, which
was traditionally used as currency in the Papuan region of the country.
2, 5 and 10 kina that
replaced the Australian dollar at par, were issued in the seventies
Followed by the 20 kina, 50 kina and100 kina. Starting from the nineties
new issue of banknotes has been issued and all the Papua New Guinean
banknotes have been produced in polymer ,.
Solomon Islands dollar
Starting from the seventies the dollar, subdivided into 100
cents., is the currency of the Solomon Islands .The Solomon Islands dollar was iissed
to replace the Australian dollar at par, following independence.
In the seventies ,2, 5 and 10
dollars banknoter were issued followed by 20 dollars and 50 dollars notes
and 100 dollars in 2006.. A polymer two
dollar banknote was issued in 2001 to replace the cotton fibre issue,
but was reverted back to cotton in later series. |
