Panamian Balboa

The balboa, named in honour of the Spanish explorer/conquistador Vasco Núñez de Balboa., is the currency of Panama.   The balboa subdivided into 100 centésimos  replaced the Colombian peso  following the country's independence. The balboa has been tied to the United States dollar  and has always circulated alongside dollars.
Panamanian banknotes, denominated in balboas, were printed in the forties by President Arnulfo Arias. but  were recalled several days laterand were the only banknotes issued by Panama
