Silent Death is a miniatures space battle game based on the Star Strike sourcebook to the
Spacemaster role-playing game, but with vastly simplified mechanics. In
particular, combat is fast and lethal, and so chances of crewman death
or ship destruction are frighteningly high in a single battle. This
makes Silent Death much more suitable as a standalone game then as a
space-combat addition to a role-playing game.
The new edition of Silent Death, with a comparatively tiny amount of
ships, all fighter-class, was followed by two enlargement sets, which
added much ships, optional rules, and Gunboat-class craft. A late
rewrite, called Silent Death: The Next Millennium, combined these rules
into an unmarried sourcebook and overhauled the feel of the miniatures,
too replacing the basic lead with elastic models. Later additions to
this edition added still much ships, including capital ships. Each
origin script came with an amount of basic scenarios for two or much
players, but each ship too had a price value, so players could build
their own fleets and operate battles at any scale.
