state plate -- usually measuring 10" in diameter - are
in transferware pattern with a gold trim showing several
landmarks of the State with usually an iscription in the
middle. Somestate plates have an embossed rim with
a color center showing the state landmarks.

Collector's are not to be used for eating since most of the glazes prior to 1972 contained small
amounts of lead as did the paints used. Also don't place the
dishes in the microwave as this causes leaching.
