Lilliput Lane started producing their miniature
cottages in 1982. David Tate, the founder, opened workshops in England's Lake District, and the company has
been producing cottages
that have attracted a worldwide audience with regular
retirements and new issues in collections such as :
British Cottages , Collectors Club , English Collection ,
Illuminated Cottages , Irish Collection , Limited Editions ,
Scottish Collection , Snow Cottages - Xmas , Welsh Collection
cottages. The majority are based on real cottages, with collections
based not only on British Cottages, but also American, and in the past
German, Dutch and French Cottages.
Usually based on a real building,the initial line released in
that first September consisted of 14 models.
In the early years, models frequently underwent "renovations",
resulting in two or more versions of the same piece.
Limited Editions
Numbered, limited editions have done very well for Lilliput
Lane, and produced some of the company's most beautiful
miniatures. Some notables:

Special Events Editions
These pieces are normally introduced at the Annual Collectors'
Fair in England, and available only for the year at Lilliput
Lane events, which makes them rarities.
