1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 toea and 1 kina. coins were issued in the seventies The 1
and 2 toea in bronze, with the others in cupro-nickel. The 1 kina is
round and holed in the centre, this denomination was reduced in size
starting from 2006 along with the withdrawal of the 1 and 2 toea coins .In
the eoghties 50 toea coins were introduced but only issued in commemorative
form
1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 cents
and 1 dollar salomon islands coins were issued in the seventies. The cent coins were all the same sizes and compositions as the
corresponding Australian coins, with the 1 dollar an equilaterally curved
heptagonal coin minted in cupro-nickel. In the eighties bronze-plated steel
replaced bronze in the 1 and 2 cents, with nickel-clad steel replacing
cupro-nickel in the 10 and 20 cents. In the ninties 50 cents coins were
introduced, which were dodecagonal and minted in cupro-nickel.
All the coins of the Solomon Islands bear the portrait of the country's head
of state, Queen Elizabeth II.
