Copper coins of 1 Heller (⅛ Kreuzer) up
to 1 Kreuzer, with silver coins in denominations from 3 Kreuzer up to 1
Conventionsthaler were issued. The Turkish and Napoleonic Wars lead to token issues
of 12 Kreuzer In
1807, copper coins of 15 and 30 Kreuzer were issued by the Wiener Stadt
Banco.
When the Gulden was decimalized , new coins in denominations
of ½ , 1, 2 and 4 Kreuzer in copper, with silver coins of 5, 10 and 20 Kreuzer,
¼, 1 and 2 Florin and 1 and 2 Vereinsthaler and gold coins of 4 and 8 Florin or
10 and 20 francs were issued.
In the twenties, bronze 1 and 2 Groschen, cupro-nickel 10 Groschen and silver ½ and 1
Schilling coins were issued, followed by cupro-nickel 5 Groschen in 1931. In
the thirties cupro-nickel 50 Groschen and 1 Schilling together with
silver 5 Schilling were issued until 1938.
Starting in the forties 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50
Groschen, 1, 2 and 5 Schilling were introduced all in aluminium.The 5 Groschen and first type of 10 Groschen were in zinc, with the 20
Groschen struck in aluminium-bronze. In the fifties silver 10 Schilling coins were
issued,
followed by aluminium-bronze 50 Groschen and 1 Schilling, and by silver 5 Schilling coins. An aluminium-bronze 20 Schilling coin was introduced in 1980.
