2 series of uzbekistan coins have been issued for the second som. They can be easily
distinguished by the script used for Uzbek. The first series was written in
Cyrillic script, while the second series is written in Latin script.
In the nineties Turkmenistan coins of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 tennesi were issued.
The 1, 5 and 20 tennesi in copper-plated-steel, with the higher
denominations in nickel-plated-steel. Later on 500 and 1000 manat coins were
issued.
The somoni is the currency of Tajikistan. It
is subdivided into 100 diram . Introduced on October 30, 2000 it replaced the Tajikistani
ruble, at the rate of 1 somoni = 1000 rubles. The currency is named after the
father of the Tajik nation, Ismail Samani
