In the
nineties Peruvian coins of 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 céntimos and 1 , 2 and 5 nuevos soles coins were
issued..
An aluminium 1 céntimo and a 5 céntimos coin were issue in 2005 and 2007 . All coins show the coat of arms of
Peru surrounded by the text Banco Central de Reserva del Perú on the
obverse wile in the design of the bi-metallic 2 and 5 nuevos soles coins
is included the Nazca lines hummingbird and frigatebird figures.

The great variety in type and size of the copper and nickel coins introduced
between 1914 and 1925 were all replaced by centavo, 2-1/2
centavos, 5 centavos, 10 centavos, 50 centavos, sucre and
2 sucres coins minted in 1928.
Banco Central sent 63,680 cóndores of the 1898 standard to Birmingham to be
recoined into 20,000 new cóndores, the remainder to be sold as bullion.
