Ivory coast West African CFA, aluminium 1- and 2-franc coins were
first introduced followed by aluminium-bronze 5, 10 and 25
francs. All named
Afrique Occidentale Française. Nickel 100-franc coins were issued in 1967, followed by the
cupro-nickel 50-franc coins in the seventies.. Small, steel 1-franc coins were
issued in 1976 , followed by bimetallic 250 francs in
1992 and bimetallic 200- and 500-franc coins . In 1996, centralized production of the 100-franc
coin was resumed, with a single 500-franc coin and later
a steel 2-franc coin .
