The Guinean franc (French: franc guinéen) is the currency used in the African nation of Guinea  
Guinea bissau and equatorial guinea West African CFA  aluminium 1- and 2-franc coins were introduced.in 1948  These were followed by aluminium-bronze 5, 10 and 25 francs with the name Afrique Occidentale Française.  From 1959, coins have been issued by the BCEAO. Nickel 100-franc coins , followed by the cupro-nickel 50-franc coin. steel 1-franc coins , followed by bimetallic 250 francs and bimetallic 200- and 500-franc  1985 saw the introduction of 5-, 25-, 50- and 100-franc coins for use in Equatorial Guinea. In 1996, centralized production of the 100-franc coin was resumed, and a single 500-franc coin reintroduced
