It was Paul Cardew's wife Karen who turned his head towards both
teapots and the commercial world, having herself designed a very successful
range of teapot shapes.Paul Cardew established himself at the forefront of a
resurgence of interest in the art form of the "Eccentric Teapot". Some of his
best-known designs of the period being produced in conjunction with the "Tea
Council" and "Sunshine Ceramics" first and then with
his "Cardew Design" brand that became established as the most widely
collected teapot range in the world. The company also established design
partnerships with the likes of Disney, Portmeirion Potteries and Royal Doulton.
